Yavuz Sokmen graduated from METU (Ankara) with BSc in Electrical Engineering (Computer Engineering) and obtained an MSc degree in "Theory and Practice of Automatic Control" from UMIST, Manchester . He is a recipient of the Mathematics award from TUBITAK, " The Scientific And Technological Research Council Of Turkey". He taught at METU and part time at Sussex Univeristy. After retiring from Turkish Airlines after a spell of 28 years, Y. Sokmen began working as project consultant and developing websites with emphasis on usability, online transactions and search optimisation.
